Chalet Monti della Luna — Space as a Winter Landscape

Chalet Monti della Luna is a high-altitude Alpine residence set at 2,000 metres above sea level, surrounded by pine forests on the Italian–French border. Suspended between sky and mountain silence, it offers an intimate and romantic retreat for families or small groups seeking authenticity, privacy and direct contact with nature.

The chalet opens onto a sweeping panorama of the Alps, where changing light and seasons define the rhythm of daily life. From spring to autumn, forest trails invite hiking and mountain biking through lakes and alpine refuges. In winter, the landscape transforms into a snowbound sanctuary — a privileged gateway to one of Europe’s most renowned ski domains.

Built in the 1950s and fully renovated in 2018, the 240 sqm chalet unfolds across three levels. The restoration preserved its authentic mountain character while introducing contemporary comfort, including a dedicated Spa area for post-ski relaxation.

Natural wood, warm textiles and panoramic openings create a cosy Alpine atmosphere. The four bedrooms and three bathrooms are designed to host up to seven guests in refined comfort, balancing rustic charm with modern functionality.

At an altitude of two thousand meters, silence becomes tangible. Snow absorbs every sound, the forest frames the horizon, the sky feels closer. Chalet Monti della Luna is not merely a house in the mountains, but an experience of inhabiting space, light, and elevation — like standing within a winter landscape such as “Wood in front of the house”.

The chalet is located within the Via Lattea ski area and can be reached directly on skis during the winter season. It is close to Monginevro Superski and Sansicario, offering extensive slopes for both skiing and snowboarding.

At Cesana Torinese, the Monti della Luna Ski School provides lessons and equipment rental. The village is part of the Olympic Municipalities of the Via Lattea together with Sestriere, Claviere, Sauze di Cesana, Sauze d’Oulx and Pragelato — a network of prestigious Alpine destinations.

Access is simple via the A32 motorway and the SS24 state road. In winter, the chalet is reached from Cesana Torinese by chairlift and from Claviere by snowmobile taxi. In summer, access is via unpaved roads, requiring a 4x4 vehicle.

An access road shared with another property (approximately 300 metres away) leads to the chalet, immersed in a pine forest of larches and fir trees. Around the house extends a natural lawn area where vehicles may be parked. The property is not fenced, reinforcing its open relationship with the surrounding landscape.

The panoramic terrace becomes the heart of outdoor life — perfect for summer breakfasts under clear Alpine skies or evening moments watching the sun set behind the mountain peaks.
